The Friends of Benedict House
The Friends of Benedict House is the parent organisation (PTA) that was set up in 2010. It has become an integral part of the school community, raising several thousands of pounds, which has been spent on equipment and resources to enhance the children’s educational experience.
The Friends liaise with the school to decide on any main fundraising projects as well as providing funding for smaller one-off projects that improve a particular part of the curriculum or school environment. Recently The Friends have utilised funds to purchase books and furniture for the school library.
However, The Friends is about more than fundraising. It is a way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially, working towards a common goal in support of the school. Families are automatically associates of The Friends when their child joins our school and all parents and members of the school community are encouraged to get involved, even if they only have a small amount of time available.
In May 2013 The Friends voted to adopt the PTA-UK model constitution. This is our governing document and provides a shared understanding of how the association is governed. Our committee currently consists of five officers: Chair, Vice-chair, Treasurer, Secretary and Vice-Secretary. The Committee meet on a regular basis, usually once a month, inviting other parents to participate.
The current Friends of Benedict House Committee are:
- Chair: Julie MacInnis
- Vice-Chair: Beverley Green
- Treasurer: Santokh Singh
- Secretary: Ruth Moreland
- Vice-Secretary: Neelam Summon
We value all contributions to The Friends and if you would like to be involved in some way, please let us know! Members can be contacted by leaving a message in the office or via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively, feel free to chat to us in the playground when you see us!
