Last Friday the parents and children of Benedict House Prep School were treated to a thrilling Sports Day. Under the warm sun, Nelson, Scott and Cook Houses all gathered together to battle it out for the Sports Day crown.
There were several dominant performances in these races but also many very close and nail-biting finishes, where the result was in doubt until the finishing line. The Junior Boys 400m race was one such event after a very close sprint finish between two Year Five boys. The parents and watching children lost sight of the boys at the start of the race to be greeted as they came round the bend with the top six boys all in close proximity, fighting for the top spot and the vital points needed to push their house towards the trophy. The final event was the eagerly anticipated Individual Sprint Finals with some amazing running from all involved, including some parents. A further highlight of the day is the Family Picnic that takes place over lunchtime. It is always great to feel the relaxed atmosphere and see the field covered with families and friends having such a good time together.
After a long and exciting day all the points were added together and I announced that Nelson were victorious, walking away with both trophies. It was, however, very close; just a few points separated the three houses. What a fantastic day!Previous Next
