Once again the Benedict House community came up trumps and worked really hard to leave their cars at home or park away from Victoria Road. It was lovely to see all the smiling faces as the children made their way into school each morning.
The real highlight of the week was the Marathon Challenge in which all the children and some of the staff took part. The original plan was for each class to attempt to run a marathon between them over the course of the week during PE. This was achieved by everyone, even the youngest Pre-School children, and some went a whole lot further… Year Five were delighted to discover that they managed a whopping 1,296 laps of the grounds, the equivalent of 155 km. Individual achievements included Eilish and Tanya who both completed 80 laps of the grounds during their PE lessons, running 5km each. It was brilliant to see the endurance and determination exhibited by so many of the children and has inspired us to see if we can make running a regular part of school life.
