A generation ago, 70% of us walked to school – now it’s less than half.
As part of encouraging a healthy lifestyle, helping children to feel energised, empowering children to safely walk on the pavements and a way to encourage children to remember that walking is enjoyable, as you will recall, we took part in a Walk to School week. We decided to extend this to two weeks so that the children could enjoy a wider variety of ways to travel to school. The different activities ranged from walking to using their scooters or bicycles. We were encouraged to see how many children participated this year and we must say a big “thank you” to the parents for helping their children make the choice to walk to school. I am delighted that our Gold Star and certificate have now arrived from TFL and can be seen on the shield in the office, together with the certificate on display in the entrance hall. This, of course, is recognition of all our hard work during 2017 to promote safer and healthier ways to travel. I hope we can continue our success and achieve Gold again in 2018. Everyone at Benedict House should be very proud of what we have achieved; well done and keep it up!Previous
