Staying Hydrated and Healthy

Did you know that the recommended daily amount of fluid is: five glasses (one litre) for five to eight year olds; seven glasses (1.5 litres) for nine to12 year olds; and eight to 10 glasses (two litres) for 13 plus years?  With summer approaching quickly and temperatures climbing, Year Four are looking at how to keep their bodies healthy.

The children are asked to bring in a bottle of water to drink throughout the day.  They are encouraged by their teachers to drink during the P.E. lessons, as well as at lunch and play times so that they are constantly hydrated.  The pupils were reminded to bring their sunhats into school so that the sun is kept out of their eyes as well, fingers crossed for the good weather so that they are needed! Year Four also focused on personal hygiene and understanding the role that sweat plays in body, staying healthy and learning why it is important.
