
Regular visits are arranged to places of cultural interest. Each class normally undertakes at least one visit per term and parents are often invited to assist with these trips. Children visit local theatres and drama companies entertain the children in school. During the final year children undertake a visit abroad giving them the opportunity to experience new cultures.
Music lessons are available in a variety of instruments and children are given the opportunity to perform regularly in informal concerts. This gives them the opportunity to gain the confidence of performance in a friendly environment.
French and Spanish are specialist taught from Year 1- the acquisition of language skills is more than just learning to speak a foreign language. It obviously has an impact on children’s intellectual growth and enriches cognitive development. It helps children to understand and appreciate the customs and traditions of an entirely different group of people – strengthening communication and empathy skills.
The children have many opportunities to perform through the year from class assemblies to school productions yet another chance to develop confidence, self-esteem and empathy skills.
