Subjects:  English, Mathematics and Science

English teaching aims to ensure that all pupils learn to communicate effectively in speech and writing and to understand and respond imaginatively to what they hear and read. Much emphasis is placed on the value of literature for its intrinsic value of stimulus to personal expression. Mathematics is taught as a subject that includes a combination of the traditional topics with more open-ended investigational work which involves realistic problem solving and practical application. We aim to ensure that each pupil is taught to his/her best level and to encourage discipline of application that is essential to everyday life.

Science is taught throughout Key Stages 1 and 2. The key areas studied are life processes and living things, materials and their properties, and physical properties. The School has a wide range of equipment to assist pupils in experimental and investigative work.
